BASF Launches New Waterproofing Initiative
BASF has launched a new initiative to highlight the importance of performance waterproofing in construction.
The campaign, spearheaded by the Admixtures and Construction Products businesses of BASF Construction Chemicals, advocates a holistic approach to waterproofing for specifiers, from admixtures for watertight concrete to joint systems, coatings, membranes and concrete repair products.
Said Admixtures marketing manager Ian Berrie: “Water is potentially the most destructive element. Waterproofing failure is probably the most common problem for structures in the long-term. Failure to make provision for high-performance waterproofing has a real impact on whole-life costs, so we hope that our approach will help to address this issue.”
Added Construction Products marketing manager Ian Wilson: “Water ingress has a knock-on effect that can turn a fairly minor problem into something much more damaging. The best solution is to design in robust waterproofing measures from first principles – for older structures, regular inspection and timely remedial treatments are vital.”
To support BASF’s waterproofing initiative; a dedicated website and a new Specifiers’ Guide to Waterproofing brochure are now available dealing with waterproofing for a number of key applications, including hydraulic and water-retaining structures, basements, tunnels, roofing and more. These resources include selector charts and illustrations for easy reference, as well as example projects. For more information and to request a copy of the brochure, please click here.
